Apparently redundant sentences

In section named "CONSTRUCTION": "Initially, we will use Wikidata's populated settlements as our primary gazetteer, together with a gazetteer of bridges generated through Wikidata from the Historic England dataset. This will ensure that as far as possible our gazetteer features are born linked." -- Colin (talk) 17:28, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
Good point. It's gone. Stephen Gadd (talk) 18:02, 2 March 2021 (UTC)

"Our proposal is that when unrecognised features are encountered in a source, a nearby feature should be selected from a reference gazetteer, and a <new> tag applied. Any appropriate explanation can be added in the feature's Notes field (see example, left)."
Is this still our proposal? If so, should I be teaching this at Intermediate Recogito training sessions? -- Colin (talk) 17:28, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
I haven't had a better idea; anyone? An alternative would be simply to flag the place as unidentified. There needs to be a distinction, though, between places that we know exist(ed) but cannot be found in gazetteers, and those about which we have no clue. Stephen Gadd (talk) 18:00, 2 March 2021 (UTC)

Propose add section on creating and uploading defined vocabularies to Recogito

I propose Stephen Gadd adds a section to EMEW main page on the creation and uploading of defined vocabularies to Recogito, and also writes a section on EMEW-Interface, which explains how controlled vocabulary tags (and comments) will be used as part of the work processes to edit material in and/or outside Recogito -- Colin (talk) 17:28, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
Done. Stephen Gadd (talk) 10:58, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

Timing of creation of beta version of EMEW-Interface

What is the proposed timing of the creation of a beta version of version 1.0 of the (to be reconceptualised) EMEW-Interface? -- Colin (talk) 17:31, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
I'm working on it whenever I have time. No idea how long it will actually take, but I'm hoping to have something robust ready to make a start on checking+importing features from Recogito into EMEW after the Week 2 review. Stephen Gadd (talk) 18:06, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
That sounds like good timing, but don't work to exhaustion (ha ha). -- Colin (talk) 18:52, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
For added security and to avoid conflicts with wiki software, I've decided to put EMEW-I behind a separate login on an undisclosed subdomain url. That's all set up now, though there's nothing there yet... Stephen Gadd (talk) 17:58, 3 March 2021 (UTC)
Will you consult with facilitators/co-facilitators of Saxton, Leland-Wales and Probate mini-projects to understand work processes under development within these mini-projects and to influence those processes according to what is relatively uncomplex to support technologically via a beta version 1.0 EMEW-Interface? -- Colin (talk) 17:28, 2 March 2021 (UTC) -- Colin (talk) 17:31, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
I envisage EMEW-I as a tool for checking and editing features that are ready to be imported, or that have already been imported, to EMEW. Recogito's processes and outputs are somewhat fixed. Its purpose as far as any other datasets are concerned would be to check/create and edit georeference points, and to map data fields to available LPF fields (or whatever additional fields we want to create for EMEW). So as long as the probate project generates some spatial data, ideally temporo-spatial data, its direction and scope of its outputs will not be determined by EMEW-I. Propose add "hundreds", "cantrefs" -- Colin (talk) 17:44, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
"wapentakes" as well as "hundreds" in England? In Wales the closest equivalent to the hundred was the cwmwd (plural cymydau, anglicised as "commote"). A cantref (literally, hundred townships, plural cantrefi or cantrefydd) was usually made up of two cymydau. We may need a policy on using the Welsh plurals (not "cantrefs") DavidElisWilliams (talk) 20:53, 2 March 2021 (UTC)

Consider running proposed output formats past stakeholders in Viae Regiae activities? -- Colin (talk) 17:44, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
