Norfolk Colin Greenstreet
Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire Kathryn Bullen 1450 annotations (26 hours) 12.3.21 = 96 tags so far, mainly in the north of Lincolnshire and working my way southwards. Easier to tag the locations you know well. Will take longer on other locations. Estimate for whole area is a good 10 weeks x 2 hours, possibly more.
19.3.21 = 208 tags. Have come across a few places with no glyphs but a dot. Also castellated churches rather than spires. May need to revisit some places to amend as necessary.
27.3.21 = 400 tags. Annotated hills and bridges. Still to confirm what to do with place-names which have a dot but no glyph (presently annotating as hamlets).
1.4.21 = 500 tags. North Nottinghamshire and north of Lincolnshire complete. Rivers still waiting clarification on how to tag.
9.4.21 = 650 tags. Progressing well.
16.4.21 = 800 tags.
23.4.21 = 935 tags. Now coming across a few that cannot be identified easily.
9.5.21 = 1120 tags.
1.6.21 = 1412 annotations. About to start rivers. Then desCartes for the flagged unknown places.
8.6.21 = 1450 annotations. As complete as I can get. 25 places are still unknown; I have been unable to locate via desCartes. These are largely old watercourses, drains and dikes - probably obliterated in large-scale drainage of 1600s+? Ready for checking :)

4 April: Complete except for several annotations I am awaiting help with.

Gloucestershire Michael Hall 270+ settlements identified. (Approx 65%) Late March Remaining settlements are in areas I know well. Yet to start topographic features, of which Gloucestershire has many! I have not been able successfully read any of the Burliegh annotations. Problems reading many of the glyphs. BL copy worn and faded, the BNFGallica copy has very heavily marked points. French copy is proving useful in reading indistinct place names. Do we need a policy regarding ferries and place names that indicate their presence. Gloucester uses the term ‘passage’ . In modern naming some of these locations may become lost. [See https://viaeregiae.org/wiki/Talk:Saxton#Ferries_and_Passages above Stephen Gadd (talk) 05:12, 17 March 2021 (UTC)]

Unresolved issues

1. No tag for ferry There are ferries in several counties but no way to tag them currently. Issue was raised here and tag was considered a good idea but has not yet been added to vocabulary.
